Youths & Schools/Clubs CONTAINER GARDEN 2016

Childrens Container Display

Youth /Schools ‘Container’ competition

We are pleased to invite all Children in Cambridgeshire, either Individuals , Schools or other youth groups such a Cubs and Brownies to enter a Tub Display at our Major Charity Garden Show next June.

The theme for this year is an Unusual Container display  and the  container can be anything in which the plants can grow successfully (i.e. have free drainage ). The filled container must be freestanding and reasonably portable so that it can be moved to the Garden site without the use of machinery (such as fork-lift). Therefore a stone trough might not be appropriate! Innovative, homemade or recycled containers will be looked upon favourably.

Maximum height and width of container: 80cm x 80 cm.

The containers might include vegatables, floers or herbs. The most unusual and attractive display will receive the most points.

All entries will receive a certificate in recognition of their efforts.

Entries must be made latest 1st June at the latest on the attaché form to guarantee acceptance at the Show. All Conatiners must be delivered/displayed at the show by midday on Friday 24th June when judging will commence. They may be delivered/displayed on Wednesday 22nd or Thursday 23rd June.

There is no charge for entries, and all children U15 get free admission to the weekend, but we would ask that if you are unable at the last minute to delivery your Tub you call the Organiser to advise of none attendance as your Name will be displayed on 07802 282193.

There is also a proposal currently under government consideration to include food and horticulture in the National Curriculum and which is the subject of a report by the Food Growing in Schools Task force .
